Have you ever woken up in bed, checked your morning emails, and felt as if your stomach had become so heavy that your body was being weighed down? Have you ever felt sick as you were taking a shower or getting dressed but just couldn’t pinpoint where that feeling was coming from. Have you ever felt confused as you made your way to the restroom or didn’t feel like looking forward to anything. You are not alone, though; what you’re experiencing is morning anxiety, which is when you feel anxious and stressed when you first wake up. This emotion results from your perception that you have no control over the events in your life. So, tension and concern wake you up from sleep rather than your alarm clock. Oftentimes, when we go to bed with a heavy heart, we wake up feeling dejected and unsure of how to get assistance since we are carrying so much burden. I’ve had the feeling that my life is in shambles and that there is no way to handle the issues that are already present and those that are just starting to arise. Then, one day, I made the decision to take the initiative to put what I had learned into practice so that the next time I woke up, I would feel rejuvenated and unstressed, with the sun beaming on my face and a light heart, as opposed to feeling like I was about to burst with despair, anxiety, and strain. Because let’s face it, the kind of day we have is determined by our attitude. Everyone should show up with the assurance that everything in their lives is in order. So here are some methods you may use to wake up feeling invigorated and calm.
Recognize your negative thoughts and work to overcome them.
You should try to regulate your ideas since they have a big influence on how you feel and behave. I am aware that it will be challenging since a habitual style of thinking will permeate all aspects of your life. But I’m going to challenge you to quickly replace any negative thoughts that come to mind with positive ones since dwelling on the bad things in your life won’t make them go away. Positive thinking can help you get a decent night’s sleep since there won’t be a mental struggle going on in your brain that keeps you up at night or causes you to wake up feeling anxious in the morning.
Write your morning reflections.
When you wake up in the morning with a heavy heart and bad thoughts, the first thing I want you to do is write those things down. It is often better to see things written down so that you can understand how to handle them. When you have written down your negative thoughts, I want you to reflect on why you are thinking that way or why you are allowing circumstances that are beyond your control to bother you. After you have that solution, I want you to find a way to deal with that negativity, so you won’t have those negative those repeatedly.
Remind yourself of your blessings.
Many times, when we get up, we are so preoccupied with everything wrong with our lives that we fail to practice thankfulness. I want you to consider all the things for which you are thankful whenever you experience anxiety. In fact, I want you to make a sticky note of everything for which you are grateful and put it in your mirror. Hence, you may be reminded of the reasons you should be grateful, cheerful, and feeling light whenever you feel a heavy wave of bad feelings approaching.
Consider your favorite things that you are looking forward to.
I must admit that life has its ups and downs, but at the end of the day life is beautiful, so when you get up in the morning and feel depressed, think of something you are looking forward to that makes you happy. It need not be something significant; it might be as simple as visiting your loved ones, getting your favorite cappuccino, or watching your favorite movie. Though it may be simple to periodically lose yourself in the negative, you should constantly keep your attention on the good things in your life.
Cut back on TV, social media, and phone conversations before bed.
This is crucial because, often, the things we watch and the people we chat to before bedtime have an impact on how well we sleep and what thoughts we have when we wake up. Two hours before going to bed, I advise switching off the television and putting the phone away. You may get into a healthy sleep habit by reading a nice book, solving a puzzle, or listening to relaxing music. This will help you wake up feeling refreshed. TV and social media may be tiring at times, especially if you follow certain people and watch certain things.
In conclusion, I think that anxiety is a normal emotion, but I think it becomes a problem if you wake up every morning feeling like you’re carrying the weight of the entire world on your shoulders. Everyone should feel pleased and at peace when they wake up. No one can make you feel good in the morning, and no one can really take away your morning anxiety. You must put in the required effort in order to enjoy waking up and have a lovely life. Get rid of everything that isn’t helping you anymore, realize what you can manage, and suppress any negative ideas that could be trying to spoil your day. You must first believe it and start working if you want to wake up in tranquility.
