Metathesiophobia (Do you fear Change)

Why do we do fear change is it because we want to be in comfortable everything and the slights change will take us back to a time in our past that when we went through change it caused a lot of trauma and grief because where does that fear come from the only rational thing is that something happened in our past.  As we all know fear can be a deliberating emotion that can have people live in a state of stagnation because they don’t like change. Maybe someone lost their mom and the change they had to experience was traumatized because they had to live with people that were emotionally, verbally, financially or physically abusive to them. And if they mind, they think the real reason they are going through this trauma is because they lost their mom so they change in there and are associated with fear of hurt, pain and grief.  Also, the loss of a parent, spouse or job change doesn’t have to be that dramatic. It can be as small as someone in your house getting a new job because in your mind you think something bad will happen because it’s interrupting your Stauss quote.  We must understand that everything that we are going through as adults stems from what we were through as children.  I believe every adult can benefit from therapy and lots of healing because if we don’t heal that child that is inside of us that child will run our adult lives so I will give you three major reasons why you should not fear change and how to overcome it to live a fulfilling life. Don’t get me wrong, fear can be a great feeling to alert us when there is danger on the way or to warn us about people that mean no good to us, but it becomes a problem when fear keeps you stuck.

Stop Living in the Past

Lots of time people will love in fear because of things that happened in their past and they can’t get over it.  So, when they enter a new relationship, job, or move they form a comfortable situation that they think will protect them from danger because they have a habit where they know what will happen next so they think they will not get hurt. This false thinking is dangerous because in order for us to grow we have to change. If you are not changing you are not growing and if people allow their past to stop them from growing, they will live miserable lives. The most important thing a person can do is to seek therapy so they can let go of the past they are used to living in. A lot of times when people have been through traumatizing events, they will do things to protect themselves, so they won’t ever experience that kind of pain again.  They will either recreate the pain they went through in their adult life so it can be a normal feeling for them so if their parents went through a divorce as a child as the adult will enter and end relationships so their pain will be normal to them.  In order to stop living in the past is to have a positive outlook on life and control your thinking and understand that your past doesn’t exist anymore. In reality it only exists in your brain which causes you to feel like someone is out to get and no one is.

Face your Fears.

Whatever you are going through in life the only way to truly stop living in fear is to face your fear head on because that will allow you to see that what you fear was not that bad. When you face your fears that is when you begin to grow and truly know what you are available for, which will then lead you to your dreams.  When you face your fear and not allow it to be the pilot of your life you will be free because you won’t have those negative emotions on your shoulders telling you that you should do something . You will gain so many positive traits that will override any negative emotions they may try to creep up and stop you.

Stop Trying to be perfect.

We frequently strive for perfection to make up for the feeling of unworthiness we have as a result of things that people have done or said to us. This causes us to live in dread and lead wretched lives. What we must realize is that we must pursue our goals in life without waiting for everything to be perfect. Because, let’s face it, nobody should be your target audience when you strive for excellence. Make sure that everything you do in life is for you and no one else, and quit waiting for the perfect time to face your concerns. There is no such thing as the perfect time; simply act now since nobody is waiting for you at the end of the day.

Avoid regrets.

When you face your fears that will lead you to following your dreams that will then give you a good feeling about your life. When you avoid regrets, that empty feeling of missing opportunity that could’ve enhanced you or your dreams. And that regretful feeling will only take you back to sadness which will then take you back to your past and then you are living in fear all over again.  In order to not have to live with regrets is to breathe, think positive and make a list of all your fears. Then one by one face them all regardless of if they end up being a failure or a lesson but if you, she is positive thinking they will end up being a lesson, so you know what to do and what not to do. Once you take a hold of all your fears you will then have no regrets to live with because you have done everything you wanted to do and not want to do.
