Or maybe you were having a great day and a negative past tried to creep into mind to take try to take control of it. Well, I’m here to let you know that there are steps you can do to prevent those thoughts, so you won’t have to suffer the consequences of negative thinking. Our thoughts should be like a lovely vision board filled with great memories, that motivates us to want to create more. Our thoughts should be something we protect since our mind leads how we live our life and how we feel. We shouldn’t corrupt it with a negative image that doesn’t exist anymore because at the end of the day a negative mind will only lead to a negative lifestyle. I believe the way to stop those negative thoughts is to stop giving it power especially if fighting that negative war anymore. Even if you are still fighting a battle thinking negatively all the time, that won’t get you anywhere Additionally, I think that we should use our minds to store the good things in life while reserving the bad things for use as a protective reminder. So here are a few tips to help you combat negative thoughts.

What good would it do you right now to ponder on bad thought?

When a negative thought pops into your head I want you to ask yourself ” what good would it do for you right now”. If that negative thought is not adding to your happiness, then I want you to quickly think about something that makes you happy. Remember you can replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts anytime. Please don’t give negative thoughts your power because it will only lead you to destruction. Because oftentimes, our thoughts become reality via our actions, and those actions then become reality through our actual lives.

Consider how you can change your perspective.

If thinking about something good doesn’t help when negative thoughts arise, consider engaging in activities that will help you change your perspective, such as watching a cheerful or romantic movie or listening to uplifting music. You can also get up and do some exercise, hang out with upbeat people, write in a journal, color in an adult coloring book, or read a book that will make you feel better. I don’t think you should have to sit and be a victim of things that happened in the past that are not real, thus these might makeshift your attitude the moment you feel the depleting notion come on.

Prevent Triggers

A few ways to prevent triggers of negative thinking is to replace self-deprecating remarks with positive ones and break ties with people in your life that leaves you with nothing but bad experiences and stress. Its time to stand up for yourself so you can show up for yourself. A lot of time negative thoughts come from negative experiences and those experiences come from people so don’t be afraid to cut anyone off it doesn’t matter if its family or friends. Also, limit your use of social media by doing a digital detox, which has been shown to be good for mental health, and staying away from certain television shows that could make you nervous.

Rethink your way of thinking.

No matter what is happening in your life, I want you to develop the practice of thinking positively. I am aware that some individuals have spent the majority of their lives thinking negatively, because in their mind it was a survival tool that got them from point A to point B, but it is time to alter that. So, when you wake up in the morning throughout the day and before you go to bed try telling yourself what you are grateful for. By incorporating this strategy into your incredible life, you’ll start to notice the beauty in everything, and negative ideas will appear alien to you, making it second nature to think positively.

Ask for Help

It’s time to get treatment if your negative thoughts are getting so awful and appearing so frequently that they’re making you behave in a way that scares both you and others around you. Don’t be hesitant to go to a professional if your unhappy thoughts are dragging you down into a burning pit that is interfering with your daily life. You don’t have to fight this battle by yourself since mental health professionals are there to help you with challenges that are too big for you to handle. You are too great to be buried in thoughts that are detrimental to your life, so don’t be afraid to reach out because you deserve to have a peace of mind followed by an amazing life.
